It’s the late 80s and I’m at full throttle acr

It’s the late 80s and I’m at full throttle across the deserts of North Africa riding along side heroes and legends such as Cyril Neveu, Hubert Auriol, Gaston Rahier, Edi Orioli, Stephane Perterhansel and Jean-Claude Olivier - the boss of Sonauto who was spearheading Yamahas Paris-Dakar campaign at the time. I’m on route to Lac Rose in Thierry Sabine’s legendary rally - arguably the grandfather of Adventure Motorcycling.

In a split second I’m over the bars and flying through the air after hitting some camel grass buried in the fesh-fesh. Alas, it’s 3am on a winters night in Ireland and I’ve just awoken from yet another dream of riding in the tire tracks of legends.

Join us in March 2026 for the Overlanders Maroc Desert Classique, as we live that dream. 12 days riding through the wilds of Morocco retracing the tracks of Dakar Legends on iconic machines. Self-guided or guided. Trail riding or tarmac only options. Fully supported tour. All motorcycles must be at least 25 years old. Register your interest now.

That’s our Northern Thailand tour finished for 2

That’s our Northern Thailand tour finished for 2025 and what a memorable experience it was with a wonderful group of people. Massive thanks to all that shared the journey. No doubt they’ll be remembered as the paddies who laughed their way all around Northern Thailand.

Last few photos including some from a visit to Huay Pu Keng Long Neck Village where the group donated over 14,000 THB worth of non perishable foods and supplies to the children of the village, there are eighty six children in the school with many of them boarders as their parents are still living in Myanmar 🇲🇲, new refugees fleeing from the civil war in Myanmar have arrived at the village in recent months, most of these were children.

Huay Pu Keng Long Neck Village traces its origins back to the 1980s, when the Kayan people fled internal conflict in Myanmar. They found refuge in this serene valley along the Pai River, transforming it into a thriving community. Today, the village stands as a living testament to resilience and cultural preservation. Kayan women wear brass coils to signify their distinct cultural identity and their beauty.
