A popular seaside town, Tramore is known for its beach, amusement arcades, and water sports. It’s a great starting point for exploring the Copper Coast.
The Copper Coast in Ireland is a scenic region in County Waterford, known for its rugged coastline, picturesque villages, and dramatic landscape. This area offers a thrilling motorcycling experience, with a mix of winding roads, scenic views, and challenging terrain, making it a truly enjoyable ride for bikers. This route takes you from Waterford City and takes you through the villages of Tramore and Bunmahon, offering picturesque views of the Atlantic Ocean coastline.
Compared to other tourist-heavy areas, the Copper Coast tends to be quieter. This makes the experience feel more immersive and peaceful, giving riders more freedom to explore at their own pace without heavy traffic distractions.
The region is steeped in history, with remnants of its past in the form of old copper mines and historic buildings. The mining heritage dates back to the 19th century when copper mining was a significant industry in the area.
The Copper Coast is designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark, highlighting its geological variety and significance. The area showcases a range of geological features, including sedimentary rocks, volcanic formations, and glacial deposits, which tell the story of Earth’s geological history.
